We are seeking two experienced and highly motivated Disability Management Case Officers to join our Health & Disability Management team in Winnipeg, Manitoba on an 18-month term. As part of this Team,  you will adjudicate and manage claim files, facilitate rehabilitation services to the injured/ill/ill employees, promote of disability management concepts to stakeholders and the coordination of vocational rehabilitation and other professional services such as return to work for Manitoba Hydro.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing disability claims to resolution in a proactive manner. This includes determining employees benefit entitlement for insured and uninsured disability benefits through to implementing the right interventions to support recovery, coordination of company leave plans, and return to work for approved claims as early as it is safe to do so.\

Gathers, assembles, reviews and assesses information on a claim file to establish acceptability or continuing entitlement by reviewing contractual, medical, functional and occupational information.

Regularly analyses and confirms the acceptability of claims and entitlement to various benefits; and communicates the decision to stakeholders.

Build strong relationships with our employees, partners, and management teams to resolve claim issues and coordinate time off and accommodation with other company leave plans.

Manage Job Modification process and assist in the process to make the determination of covered conditions under the Human Rights legislation.

Interviews and or meets with injured/ill employees and employers to provide and obtain information regarding a workplace injury/illness.

Assess the employee’s suitability for graduated or modified return to work programs by identifying return to work opportunities; negotiating the parameters of return to work programs with benefit providers and stakeholders; conducting on-site review of the proposed position; assesses the injured/ill employee’s ability to safely perform the duties; and monitors the return to work program of the injured/ill employee through a case management plan.

Provide consultation and participate in meetings with employees, managers, Human Resources, Legal, and Employee Relations regarding sensitive employee issues when needed.

Prepares and maintains written case records/reports/forms in line with PHIA guidelines, performs case follow-up until closing, and performs other administrative tasks as required.

Prepares for and attends grievance/arbitration hearings.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum four year degree from an institute of recognized standing plus three years of directly related experience, two of which are in a disability management capacity OR Two year Diploma (Health major) from an institute of recognized standing and five years of directly related experience, three of which are in a disability management capacity.
