New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities. Family Therapy Services is one of the many services offered by New Directions. Family Therapy Services is currently seeking a part time (0.6 FTE) Co-Trainer/Clinician - 7 hours per week (0.2 FTE) with the Making Sense of Trauma program and 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE) with the Family Therapy Services program for a total of 21 hours per week.
Duties Include: In collaboration with a co-trainer, to provide and continue to develop the Making Sense of Trauma training workshop and webinar to child welfare providers, foster parents and mental health workers who support children and their families who have experienced trauma. Providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy both on site and in the community, supporting families to connect with community resources, and working with larger systems to co-ordinate services and develop programming.
Qualifications Include: The ability to dynamically present a trauma-informed understanding of children’s behaviours as adaptive coping responses and neurobiological patterns, grounded in clinical experience; an awareness of cross-cultural factors that impact the healing/recovery process, including inter-generational trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous and settler communities. Familiarity with attachment theory and related interventions is essential, as well as the ability to work effectively within in a systemic framework. Training in individual and group psychotherapy, experience working with clients involved with multiple systems, and willingness to engage in community partnerships are also required.
The successful candidate must have clinical experience and training with a Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy or Social Work. Clinical membership in AAMFT, CAMFT or Manitoba College of Social Workers and Circle of Security training would be an asset.
The salary range for this position is $ 26.66 - $37.33 per hour (equivalent to $29,112 - $40,764 per annum), dependent upon education and/or experience. The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Checks.
