Black River First Nation is located approximately 150 km northeast of Winnipeg, and 43 km north of Powerview-Pine Falls.  It is accessible by an all weather road - 304N.  The population is 1100+ for both on & off reserve members.  The local school has an enrollment of 200 students that attend nursery to grade 10.  Students in grade 11 & 12 commute off reserve to attend school.  Under the umbrella of the Health Centre, the following programs are administered: Public Health, Home Care, Mental Wellness, Medical Transportation, Jordan's Principle, Head Start and Day Care.  A nurse practitioner attends to the community once weekly and two mental health therapist's attend three days weekly.  The nearest primary care hospital is in Powerview-Pine Falls and the nearest children's hospital is in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
