TITLE:     Specialized Placement Case Manager Winnipeg Office (One year term)


Job Summary


The Specialized placement case manager reports to the NCN CFS Supervisor and combines both case management responsibilities for children in care and specialized individual placements. The incumbent will develop a strong working relationship with the foster home and the children placed. In addition the successful applicant will secure, develop, implement and oversee the daily management of said home.  


Demonstrated Skills & Abilities 

Must be knowledgeable in the Child & Family Services Act, regulation and Foster care standards.

Recruit, train, license and support familial foster homes

Must be able to handle difficult and sensitive situations, using sound, independent judgment within specific guidelines and regulations

To maintain a current record of children for recommendation of specialized sibling homes.

To develop and institute permanency planning for each child while maintaining and promoting familial connections.

To participate in regular caseload reviews towards designated short and long term goals and provide follow up services when necessary

To maintain up to date files and to organize and prioritize workload

To create framework for future recommendations.

CFSIS knowledge and understanding.

Other Duties as may be assigned




Bachelor of Social Work or related field and 1 year experience in case management and foster care knowledge

Must have a high level of integrity and professional initiative

Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and oral.

Ability to speak an Aboriginal language would be an asset

Valid Manitoba Driver’s license

A criminal record check & child abuse registry check is a requirement for all employees.



SALARY RANGE:                                       MGEU scale
