Reporting to the President and CEO, and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President Human Resources and Safety, Health, & Environment is responsible to lead a talented team in successful planning and delivery of Human Resources, Safety, Health & Environment policies and programs that drive people, culture, and business outcomes.  
The successful candidate will also participate and be a driving force in the strategic transformation of Manitoba Hydro as the company transforms to be a utility and workplace of the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team promoting its effectiveness, development and integration across the Corporation in service of Manitoba Hydro's business needs and strategic objectives.
  • Lead and oversee the planning and delivery of Human Resources and Safety, Health & Environment policies and programs to drive people, culture, and business outcomes in alignment with the Corporation's strategic objectives.
  • Develop and design a strong people plan / strategy to enable the enterprise towards creating an engaged and future ready productive workforce.
  • Develop and drive a clear plan / strategy around employee engagement and foster a culture that enables Manitoba Hydro to realize its strategic objectives.
  • Ensure a deep understanding of the Corporation's business needs relative to Human Resources and Safety, Health & Environmental functions and proactively identify and evaluate new capabilities and technologies required to improve business performance in these domains.
  • Act as business advisor to leaders across the Corporation on matters of Human Resources and Safety, Health & Environment, delivering high-value expert services and efficient, fit-for-purpose activities in collaborating with the Business on People and Safety, Health & Environment strategies.
  • Enable the business through operationally excellent (cost and service) Human Resources, and Safety, Health & Environment services.
  • Lead service delivery through consistent processes, standards, policies and key performance indicators (KPIs) for each function, ensuring that KPIs for each of the respective Divisions are in place, monitored, and acted upon.
  • Ensure that business unit targets and compliance requirements are met, including Safety, Health & Environment.
  • Act as a champion and owner of the Transformation, pushing the boundaries of what is considered possible to drive a competitive and flexibility future state.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholder groups to gain support and commitment to the Corporation's strategy and direction.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a University Degree in an appropriate discipline with ten years of related management experience demonstrating progressively greater responsibility or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Must have in-depth knowledge of, and broad experience in human resources and labour relations (including effectively negotiating human resources matters in a large, complex, and heavily unionized environments) as well as safety, health  & environment (including the strategic planning and oversight of safety, health and environmental management system to achieve positive safety health and environment outcomes and regulatory compliance). Must be a strong, influential, thought leader with the aptitude to generate enthusiasm and build effective teams and working relationship with all stakeholders. Experience with Innovation and Continuous Improvement in a service environment.
