CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
RN and LPN – RENAL HEALTH UNIT
Location: Garden Hill, MB
Full-Time, Part-Time and Casual Opportunities Available

 

EDUCATION:

•Registered Nurse with current CRNM registration or Licensed Practical Nurse with CLPNM is required
•Current BLS certification healthcare provider level C with AED is required
•Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course preferred, training provided if required
•Current criminal background check is required

EXPERIENCE:

•1-2 years clinical nursing experience is required
•Nursing experience in a Northern clinic or related health care setting is preferred
•Experience with nutrition and lifestyle counselling is preferred
•Familiarity with the environment, community and culture is preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•Demonstrated good judgement in serving the needs of the Unit and patients
•Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required
•Diplomacy and professionalism with all clinic staff is required
•Demonstrated sensitivity in dealing with culturally related issues is required
•Demonstrated initiative and ability to work effectively in a busy environment with limited supervision is required
•Computer skills or willingness to learn is required
•Word processing and familiarity with patient databases is an asset
•Fluency in Oji-Cree is an asset

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Teaches renal health prevention and performs dialysis in a primary care facility
•The position encompasses dialysis program delivery, community education and some primary care services
•Provides advice and support to other primary care and public health nurses and communities with the WRHA LocalCentre Dialysis Program in Winnipeg, nephrologists, family physicians, social workers and visiting consultants in theprovision of services and follow-up, as appropriate.
•Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
