DUTIES 

Reporting to the Chair of Life Sciences, the Instructor is required to deliver a number of courses within the Science Laboratory Technology program. The successful candidate will be expected to develop, manage, prepare and deliver course materials, and learning sources for in class and online delivery in the content areas of Chemistry, Microbiology, Statistics, and Quality Assurance / Quality Control. The Instructor will provide instruction to a diverse student population, identify and recommend relevant text books, periodicals and other materials as instructional resources; collaborate with other members of the Life Sciences team; maintain classroom and laboratory safety; meet with and provide academic advising to students.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Science; an equivalent combination of education and experience in Science Laboratory Technology/Quality Assurance and Quality Control for Pharmaceutical and Food Industry may be considered
  • Significant work experience in a laboratory environment 
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Presentation and organization skills
  • Demonstrated experience using computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Online platforms for teaching, Laboratory Simulations programs
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a group setting

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching Chemistry, Microbiology and/or Science Laboratory related courses
  • Experience in curriculum development and teaching post secondary courses in an online environment
  • Experience in Genomics / BioInformatics
  • Experience in Statistical or Data Analysis used for Quality Control / Quality Assurance
  • Certificate in Adult Education

 

CONDTIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Application program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)

Salary: $58,744 - $87,246 per annum*
