Full-Time Position Available

As a member of the Student Support Services team, and under the direction of the Manager of Exam Accommodations & Assistive Technology, the incumbent will provide a variety of services to Red River College students with documented disabilities and to RRC staff.  The incumbent will assess the assistive technology and alternate format requirements of students with disabilities, provide recommendations based on the latest technology options, provide training and on-going technical assistance to students in the use of assistive technology, and conduct ongoing research into new technologies.  Additional responsibilities include managing requests for alternate format print materials, including obtaining alternate formats from external sources and producing alternate format material in-house, promoting the use of accessible documents and online accessibility to the RRC community, and providing professional development opportunities to RRC staff regarding document accessibility, alternate formats, and assistive technology. 



  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline (e.g., Education, Occupational Therapy, Computer Studies).  A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Three years direct and on-going experience working with adults with disabilities, preferably in a post-secondary education setting
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, assistive technology (e.g., Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, ZoomText, smart phone/tablet apps, smart pens)
  • A strong understanding of how specific disabilities affect learning and how assistive technology and software can compensate for learning difficulties
  • Knowledge of standards and best practices for provision of materials in alternate format as well as an understanding of the Canadian Copyright Act
  • Computer experience including word processing, editing of digital text, databases, spreadsheet software, and a knowledge of operating systems, hardware and software
  • Knowledge of the Manitoba Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Manitobans Act
  • Demonstrated time management skills and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience creating instructional guides and training manuals
  • Experience creating and delivering workshops and presentations

  • Experience using ClockWork scheduling software



  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Incumbent must possess a valid Manitoba Driver's License, as there will be travel associated with a multi-campus college

Salary: $52,465 - 71,851 per annum
