The First Nations of Northern Manitoba Child and Family Services Authority (Northern Authority) is responsible for administering and providing for the delivery of child and family services (CFS) to twenty-seven First Nation communities through seven mandated First Nations CFS agencies.
The Manager has an oversight function of the Northern Authority’s Northern Initiative and Development department and core program areas; namely the core functions related to project management, policy development, Quality Assurance in regards to new legislation in child and family services. Candidates should have extensive knowledge and understanding of current issues related to child and family services, preferably from a northern Manitoba First Nations perspective.
BSW (preference for MSW) and 7-10 years’ experience (which should include front line experience) in a child welfare environment
Demonstrated experience in a leadership role with senior management experience
Experience managing, coaching, coordinating workloads, and supervising employees
Strong working knowledge and experience in project management, policy development and quality assurance
Strong working knowledge of child and family services practices, aboriginal cultural awareness, new federal legislation, and current and past issues is necessary
Strong organizational and planning skills, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with superior analytical and decision making skills
Able to build and maintain strong and sustainable relationships with agency directors, other CFS authorities and key stakeholders, as well as Northern Authority management and staff
Able to provide clear Criminal Record, Prior Contact Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
Experience working on committees, attending Board of Director meetings
The ability to speak Cree, Dene and/or Oji-Cree is a definite asset.
