Position Summary:

Native Addictions Council is seeking a compassionate community helper who will work as part of a team of professionals and under guidance from the Program Supervisor and Executive Director, and in collaboration with our Residential Care Team. You will attend to record keeping practices; and proivide ongoing contact and support for program participants.

 

Qualifications: 

  •  Certifications in addictions/ counselling 
  •  Candidates are required to provide a current Criminal Record Check, Adult/Child Abuse Registry Check, Vulnerable Persons Sector Check 
  • Must have a valid driver's license, have access to a reliable vehicle and a driver's abstract 
  •  Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral communication and documentation skills, Knowledge of the addictions and mental health fields are essential 
  •  A willingness to participate in and deliver culturally relevant programming 
  •  Must be absinent from substance/ drug abuse 

 

The Helper Will Demonstrate the Following: 

 

  • Attend and conduct by the 7 Sacred Teachings (Love, Respect, Honesty, Humility, Truth, Courage, Wisdom)
  • Demonstrates a genuine enthusiasm for client-centred care and demonstrates empathy and compassion.
  •  Recognizes the importance of regular individual and team supervision meetings
  •  Ability to manage one's own emotions ans strong feelings; maintain a calm and tactful composure under a broad range of challenging circumstances; think clearly and stay focused under pressure.
  •  Ability to communicate respectfully and postively with clients and team members
  •  Demonstrate teamwork and the ability to work with limited supervision.
