SENIOR POLICY ANALYST – Health Transformation


The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) requires a Senior Policy Analyst, Health Transformation for an ongoing position based on annual funding.




·        Bachelor degree in Social Sciences and Humanities, Indigenous Studies, or Health Studies

·        Masters degree an asset

·        An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered




  •    Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in policy analysis, preferably on First Nation health issues

·      Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in conducting research, analysis/evaluation and preparation of discussion or policy papers, reports and presentations on complex issues associated with First Nation health.

·        Experience in administrative and financial management an asset

  •               Knowledge and awareness of First Nation political and policy agendas regarding health reform.
  •               Excellent oral and written communication skills, and networking skills

·        Excellent facilitation and presentation skills to conduct consultation, focus groups and webinars

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·        Knowledge and application of strategic planning

·        Ability to speak Dakota or Ojibway language an asset




  • Ensures detailed yearly workplans and deliverables are met;
  • Develops, research, and reviews policy initiatives, programs, and processes with regards to health transformation
  • Provides, as required, summaries, reviews, policy updates and reports to Director and/or Senior Management when requested
  • Establish communication and linkages between SCO and its affiliated organizations, and key stakeholders
  • Participates in committees, working groups and initiatives as necessary
  • Participates in education, knowledge production and knowledge mobilization activities to increase awareness of First Nations perspectives, needs and rights.
  • Prepare written correspondence, briefings, strategies, action and advocacy plans, and work plans
  • Other duties may be assigned
  •         Travel will be required
