Public Health Nurse, Wasagamack, .75 EFT


The Position: We’re looking for a Public Health Nurse. Salary to be determined based on education and experience. Under the direction and supervision of the Tribal Nursing Officer, the Public Health Nurse will be responsible for providing professional public health nursing; assessing, improving and maintaining the health of at-risk individuals, families, and the community through health promotion and disease prevention services.


Responsibilities will include:

·     Implementation and maintenance of standards of nursing care, nursing policy, procedure and protocols related to Public Health;

·     Provides services aimed at the promotion of health and the prevention of disease in individuals, families, and groups;

·     Conducts immunizations; 

·     Oversee nursing quality assurance (ensuring competencies and evaluating performances and client satisfaction);



  • Registered Nurse (RN)/Bachelor of Nursing Degree (BN) with a minimum of two years of community health nursing experience.
  • Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Immunization certification.
  • Preferred experience in Public Health Nursing.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of traditional healing and cultural traditions of the Island Lake people.
  • Knowledge of Anishininew language would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the limits of the scope of nursing practice. 
  • Preference will be given to Island Lake First Nation members.
