The Manitoba government is seeking a highly motivated Controls Technician to work at Selkirk Mental Health Centre. This position offers reliable and full time employment with a defined pension plan. Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess a Red Seal Journeyperson Electrical Licence or Limited Electrical Licence M-1.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and be capable of travel within the District.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including sitting, lifting, reaching, working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must possess a Red Seal Journeyperson Electrical Licence or Limited Electrical Licence M-1.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and repair on HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic and DDC control systems. 
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting DDC systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health Act, and safe work procedures.
  • Knowledge of Building Automated Systems, including DDC or related systems.
  • Ability to plan and make effective work-related decisions. 
  • Organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.
  • Written communication skills.
The Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of pneumatic/electric and Direct Digital controls for HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment for owned buildings throughout the District. The Controls Technician's primary responsibilities are to: perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic and DDC control systems; perform repairs and upgrades to existing pneumatic/electric and DDC control systems, including program upgrades and modifications; perform remote and site monitoring of DDC systems and troubleshooting; and perform minor maintenance and repair on HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, and all related equipment.
