Under the direction of the EAGLE Urban Transition Centre Special Needs Advocate Lead, the Administrative Assistant will provide administrative office support in the day-to-day operations of the Eagle Urban Transition Centre – Special Needs Advocate Unit. The Administrative Assistant is a member of the EUTC Special Needs Advocate Unit and work together to provide services in a flexible, compassionate, and responsible manner to participants.

 

 

 

KEY ACTIVITIES:

 

  • Handling telephone inquiries, recording and taking messages.

  • Handle initial contacts by telephone, in-person from the public.

  • Completing Intake forms with clients.

  • Faxing and photocopying.

  • Keeping track records of cheque requisitions, purchase orders.

  • Archiving files.

  • Inventory of office supplies and electronics.

  • Maintaining electronic records of services provided.

  • Provide data required for reporting purposes.

  • Other duties as required.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Knowledgeable of First Nation organization, departments and resources.

  • Experience interacting with a diverse group of individuals.

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

  • Able to set priorities and work under pressure.

  • Computer experience is required, Microsoft Work, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with staff and the public, outgoing and friendly personality.

  • Demonstrated ability to initiative, attention to detail and maintain work accuracy.

  • Punctual and reliable, able to follow directions in a timely fashion.

  • Working in a confidential work setting is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Jordan’s Principle is an asset.

  • Ability to speak an Aboriginal language is an asset.
