The Government of Manitoba is looking for a public health medical leader to champion the vision to improve the health and wellness of Manitoba’s citizens by providing strategic advice, direction and leadership to the public, elected officials and public servants. 

This role is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and reports to the Deputy Minister of the Department of Health, Seniors and Active Living.

As an ideal candidate you are a respected, strategic leader with a compelling vision for public health in Manitoba and a willingness to play a key part in the health system transformation efforts currently underway in the Province.  You will have a medical degree and license to practice medicine in Manitoba, or be eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in Manitoba along with a Royal College certification or equivalent specialty training in public health. You are an outstanding communicator and relationship builder adept at building partnerships and collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

As the Senior public health Medical leader for Manitoba, you will champion the vision to improve the health and wellness of Manitoba's citizens by providing strategic advice, direction and leadership to the public, elected officials and public servants.  During public health emergencies, you will act as the Department's spokesperson providing advice and recommendations to the Minister, public and media.  Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer (CPPHO) will work closely with the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Population Health Division to prioritize the utilization of the public health resources to deliver on the core functions of public health including: population health assessment, health surveillance, disease and injury prevention, health promotion and health protection, and public health emergency preparedness and response. The CPPHO is a member of Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living’s executive team and a key leader of the province’s health system.
