DUTIES
Reporting to the Chair of Heavy Duty, Marine & Powersports, the Instructor is required to deliver theory and practical training to students in the Heavy Duty and Truck Transport Programs. Duties will include: develop and modify curriculum; conduct student assessment and counselling; supervise student practical labs; maintain lab and classroom equipment; maintain accurate program records; effectively manage classroom activities; and perform related administrative responsibilities as required. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A valid journeyperson's certificate in any of the following: Heavy Duty Mechanic, Truck Transport Mechanic or Agricultural Equipment Technician
• Extensive current training and experience in their trade
• Effective leadership skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in large group settings
• Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary teaching experience in apprenticeable trades
• Enrollment or completion of Teaching for Learning (TFL) Program
• Experience working with diverse group of students
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
• This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
• Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
• Valid driver's license

Salary: $62,129 - $92,271 per annum*
*The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.
