Position Location: Exchange District Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

 

4 Full-Time, Term Positions Available

DUTIES

Reporting to the Chair of IT and Professional Studies in the School of Continuing Education, the Instructor will deliver  online and on campus courses in the Full Stack Web Development program. Possible curriculum delivery could include web development, programming, testing, and web security courses. Duties include course preparation, lesson planning, content creation (e.g. notes, assignments, tests), assessment, and student support hours. The successful candidates will also participate in departmental and college committees. Curriculum will be updated to meet changing technology and industry needs. Exceptional technical expertise paired with strong communications are required to inspire students in blended learning environment.

Exceptional technical skills paired with strong communication skills are required to assist and inspire students in a blended (in class and online) learning environment. Ideal candidates will have a passion for supporting adult learning and have a commitment to their own lifelong learning.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary diploma in an Information Technology field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Current experience in an IT project environment
  • Experience coding with programming different languages and/or front-end and back-end web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with relational databases, and database-backed web applications; SQL experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective presentation skills 
  • Strong intercultural skills
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work remotely and on campus
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

 

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Teaching experience, or other experience in an educational setting
  • Experience with information technology documentation, processes and procedures

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)

Salary: $58,744 - $87,246 per annum*

*The successful candidate with a Master’s or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,725 or $5,450 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis
