The Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth (MACY) is an independent officer of the Legislative Assembly and is independent of government. The Manitoba Advocate’s statutory mandate includes representing the rights, interests, and viewpoints of children, youth, and young adults receiving any designated or reviewable services as described under The Advocate for Children and Youth Act. The Manitoba Advocate also reviews and reports upon the standards and quality of those reviewable and designated services provided to children, youth, and young adults who have died, to educate the public and to enhance the safety and well-being of Manitoba children, youth, and young adults.
Conditions of Employment:
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Prior Contact Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
· Must possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s License, access to a vehicle, and ability and willingness to travel throughout Manitoba. Some travel outside of Manitoba may be required.

The Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth is looking for candidates who are willing to work on a flexible schedule including working outside of standard office hours.
Duties:
Reporting to the Indigenous Deputy Advocate, the Indigenous Knowledge Keeper will provide opportunities for children, youth, young adults and staff to gain knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, traditions, teachings and ceremonies for the purpose of increasing, understanding and creating awareness and cultural proficiency of the MACY office. The Indigenous Knowledge Keeper will be responsible for conducting check-ins with staff to offer opportunities to counsel in matters of case work and general well-being in the workplace. The Indigenous Knowledge Keeper will also provide opportunities for counsel and cultural meetings with the Youth Ambassador Advisory Squad. The Indigenous Knowledge Keeper will also be responsible for documentation, compiling statistics, and general record keeping.
