Job Title:        Indigenous Learning Coordinator (French)

Reports to:        Head of Learning & Programs

Department:  Learning & Programs

Classification: In-Scope Class 8 - Starting at $46,483/year with benefits

JOB SUMMARY:  Reporting to the Head of Learning & Programs these positions are responsible for the development, implementation, and modification of educational programs that support the WAG-Qaumajuq’s vision.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, develop, and deliver French and Indigenous- focused educational programs for school aged children and the public based on temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection at WAG-Qaumajuq
  • Respond to programming initiatives that enhance community partnerships and build collaborative relationships with Indigenous, racialized, and French speaking communities in Winnipeg and Manitoba
  • Incorporating Indigenous knowledge and perspectives into the educational tools for WAG-Qaumajuq
  • Follow curriculum requirements and guidelines aligned with Manitoba Art Education Standards
  • Assist with recruiting, screening, and contracting of Learning & Programs staff including facilitators and/ or instructors
  • Manage and adhere to approved departmental budgets
  • Participate in long range planning for the department
  • Organize and assist with the installation of Learning & Programs- based exhibitions
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person on Turtle Island
  • Belonging to and claimed by an Indigenous Nation
  • Familiarity with Indigenous knowledge, stories, and protocol specific
  • Demonstrated work and life experience in developing and leading initiatives
  • University degree in Education or Fine Arts/ Art History or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in art gallery, museum, or related field in an educator role
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Supervisory experience
